MEET DR. HIRSCH

Dr. Marc D. Hirsch, Board Certified Ophthalmologist and LASIK Eye Surgeon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Marc D. Hirsch, M.D. graduated from Chicago Medical School in 1998 and served a medical internship at the University of California, Los Angeles/Wadsworth V.A. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City; which is considered one of the most prestigious eye departments in the country. The use of the excimer laser for vision correction was invented at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. This allowed Dr. Hirsch the unique opportunity to perform refractive surgery during his general ophthalmology training. He became one of the few residents certified to use the VISX excimer laser for vision correction.

After graduating from medical school and completing his training in ophthalmic surgery, Dr. Hirsch was fortunate to be accepted into one of the most competitive fellowship training programs in ophthalmology. He completed an extensive one year fellowship with Roger Steinert M.D. and Michael Raizman M.D. Both surgeons are widely considered premier thinkers in the fields of refractive surgery and corneal surgery. This extra training enables him the expertise to note subtle aspects of your eye exam that can affect the results of your surgery. During this fellowship Dr. Hirsch served on the ophthalmology staff for Harvard Medical School and Tuft’s Medical School in Boston.

Dr. Hirsch performs all of the preoperative and postoperative evaluations. All discussions and decisions regarding treatment are made in a private setting with Dr. Hirsch. You will be evaluated on each visit by Dr. Hirsch. This is a unique situation; many other surgeons will not be directly involved with the pre and post-operative care and in some situations you may not even meet the surgeon until the day of the surgery.

Dr. Hirsch is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Hirsch is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons. Locally he is a member of the Milwaukee Ophthalmologic Society and on the medical staff of Aurora St. Lukes Hospital and Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee Hospital.
